McCarthy urges Trump to 'stop questioning the size' of Harris’ rallies

Donald Trump has been pushing a conspiracy theory that Vice President Kamala Harris is using artificial intelligence exaggerate the size of her campaign rallies — a baseless claim that, CNN notes, is "easily disproved by photos and videos captured by attendees and media."
One of Trump's allies, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California), is urging Trump to quit talking about the size of Harris' rallies — as it does nothing to help his campaign.
During a Monday, August 12 appearance on Fox News, McCarthy argued, "You've got to make this race not on personalities. Stop questioning the size of her crowds and start questioning her position, when it comes to: What did she do as (California) attorney general on crime?.… What did she do when she was supposed to take care of the border as a czar?"

McCarthy emphasized that Trump's campaign will be better off if he stays focused on issues.
"This is a perfect person to run against," the former House speaker told Fox News. "You thought John Kerry was a flip-flopper? She is the biggest flip-flop, with the most extreme positions, and you got a short time frame to do it. So don't sit back. Get out there and start making the case and use her own words to do it to her."
Harris' campaign has debunked Trump's claim about the size of one of her rallies in Michigan.
On X, formerly Twitter, the @KamalaHQ account posted a photo and wrote, "This is an actual photo of a 15,000-person crowd for Harris-Walz in Michigan. 2) Trump has still not campaigned in a swing state in over a week… Low energy?"
