'Stop lying!' Joe Scarborough excoriates 'hypocrite' Lindsey Graham, GOP over foreign aid

During a Wednesday, May 8 hearing on military aid to Israel, Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) aggressively grilled Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and demanded, "Give Israel what they need to fight the war they can't afford to lose…. This is Hiroshima and Nagasaki on steroids."

The next morning, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough slammed the conservative GOP senator as a "hypocrite" — stressing that GOP lawmakers are the ones who have repeatedly held up military aid to Israel and Ukraine.

Scarborough said of Graham, "Oh, my God, what a hypocrite. What a hypocrite, what a hypocrite! Republicans sat on their hands for months refusing to give Israel aid. Republicans sat on their hands for months refusing to give Ukraine aid. Republicans sat on their hands for months refusing to give Taiwan aid it needed to push back the communist Chinese from invading their island. For months!"

The Never Trump conservative and former GOP congressman argued that President Joe Biden, not pro-Donald Trump Republicans like Graham, are the ones who have followed the Ronald Reagan playbook when it comes to military aid to U.S. allies.

Scarborough added that the Biden Administration can criticize Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Gaza polices and still be decidedly pro-Israel.

The "Morning Joe" host argued, "Hamas isn't taking Gaza over again, and you know it. So stop lying. Stop lying! I know it's hard because Donald Trump wants you to say things like that…. Donald tells you, Lindsey, not to support Ukraine and to hold up funding for Israel, and to hold up funding for Taiwan — and you're providing lectures to the secretary of defense? What a joke!"
