According to ABC News sources, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is getting ready to end his presidential campaign and endorse GOP nominee Donald Trump. RFK Jr. is reportedly hoping to receive some type of position in a second Trump Administration if he makes the endorsement and Trump defeats Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in November.

Far-right attorney Paul Dans, who directed the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, discussed RFK's campaign and a possible Trump endorsement during the August 21 broadcast of "Timcast IRL." And he suggested putting RFK Jr. in charge of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) if Trump returns to the White House in January 2025.

"I can't tell you how many MAGA people that I work with, really the hardcore, the most based, who are huge RFK Jr. fans — and they kind of were always kind of talking about it," Dans argued. "But remember: RFK Jr. went and interviewed for a job in 2016 at Trump Tower. So, you know, their relationship goes back years."

Dans continued, "Obviously…. some of his positions aren't square with America First, traditional America First. But certainly, there's no one better, I think, in the entire country to take on the administrative state, particularly HHS. So you see, in our movement, so many medical freedom people — count me right in with that group — and just the excitement to have somebody either of his caliber at HHS, or CDC, FDA, are of course going to really clear house at the agency."

As the 70-year-old son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy Sr. (D-Massachusetts) and nephew of President John F. Kennedy Sr. (who was assassinated in Dallas in 1963) and Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Massachusetts), RFK Jr. is a member of Massachusetts' most famous Democratic political family. But in recent years, RFK Jr. has drawn scathing criticism from some of his relatives for his anti-vaxxer views and enthusiasm for conspiracy theories.

RFK Jr. entered the 2024 presidential race as a Democrat, challenging President Joe Biden in the primary. But he later exited that primary, opting to run as an independent instead.

Project 2025 is the Heritage Foundation's 900-plus-page blueprint for a second Trump Administration, and its far-right proposals are so controversial that even Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) have been trying to distance themselves from it.
