2024 GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance revealed that Donald Trump plans to completely gut Planned Parenthood if he defeats Kamala Harris next month, The Daily Beast reports.

With a history of flip-flopping on the issue of abortion, Trump successfully reversed Roe v. Wade by appointing conservative justices to the Supreme Court in 2022, and just last month submitted that Florida’s six week abortion ban was too strict.

The former president even said last month that his administration would be "great for women and their reproductive rights."

Vance suggested the opposite over the weekend.

"On the question of defunding Planned Parenthood, look, I mean our view is we don’t think that taxpayers should fund late-term abortions," the Ohio senator JD Vance said, according to NBC News. "That has been a consistent view of the Trump campaign the first time around. It will remain a consistent view."

The Beast notes that Vance's assertion drew criticism from Harris' spokesperson, Lauren Hitt, said Vance's comment proved that "a second Trump term is too big a risk for American women and their families."

Hitt added, "The only way to stop an unchecked Trump and his MAGA allies from ripping away freedoms from American women is to elect Vice President Harris, who will defend women’s access to health care and reproductive freedom."

Vance's comment also comes after The Guardian revealed last week that Trump's wife, Melania Trump, confirms in her new memoir that she's an advocate for abortion rights.
