Cornel West debate with Alan Dershowitz goes off-the-rails: 'Brother, you’ve got to get off the crack pipe'

Progressive activist and scholar Dr. Cornel West made a major announcement on Thursday, October 5. Instead of seeking the Green Party's 2024 presidential nomination, he will run for president as an independent.
West's announcement came two days before an event that has been dominating the headlines all around the world: Hamas' vicious terrorist attack on Israel. According to Al Jazzeera, more than 2300 people have been killed in the Israel-Hamas War so far. But that number is likely to increase as Israeli forces' anti-Hamas operations in Gaza continue.
West and law professor Alan Dershowitz debated the conflict during an October 11 appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News program. And their debate became quite heated at times.

West and Dershowitz both slammed Hamas for the viciousness of their October 7 attack on Israel. But things became testy when Dershowitz tried to paint West as a Hamas sympathizer.
West told Dershowitz, "I have the same outrage when Palestinian babies are killed as when Israeli babies are killed. I want you to have the same indignation when Palestinians are killed."
West described the conditions Palestinians are facing in Gaza as "no water, no electricity, no food."
West told Dershowitz, "I'm not here to defend Hamas. Don't you ever lie on me like that, brother. I'm defending the suffering of Palestinians. Anybody who commits war crimes is barbaric. I'm saying that explicitly. But I want you to say, if the Israeli Defense Force is killing children, are they barbaric too?.... They've never ever targeted a child? Brother, you've got to get off the crack pipe."
