House Republican lashes out at GOP colleagues for ousting McCarthy only days before Israel attack

Several days after Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-California) was ousted as House speaker, all hell broke loose in Israel. Hamas launched an attack on Israel on Saturday, October 7, and Israeli officials, in response, vowed to destroy Hamas facilities in Gaza. The death toll, as of October 9, has climbed to more than 1300, according to Al Jazzeera.
Rep. Mike Lawler (R-New York) is speaking out, arguing that the U.S. House shouldn't be in a state of chaos during a major crisis in the Middle East.
Lawler tweeted, "This is why you don’t remove a Speaker mid-term without cause. What an unmitigated s*** show."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
So far, the main contenders for the House speaker position include Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana).
