'Literally slept their way to the top': Jon Stewart blasts 'flailing' GOP’s failure to critique Harris

The Daily Show host Jon Stewart on Monday night slammed ex-President Donald Trump, 2024 GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance (R-OH), Republican lawmakers and commentators' inability to make a strong case against Vice President Kamala Harris in her pursuit of the presidency.

"You're going to have to shift gears — recalibrate," Stewart said, referring to the fact that the GOP's constant attacks on President Joe Biden's age no longer stand. "You've had 'Crooked Joe' and 'Sleepy Joe' on speed dial. You're going to need a new line of attack," the late-night host added.

Stewart played a clip of former Fox News host Megyn Kelly on right-wing political commentator Ben Shapiro's show, saying, "It is relevant when a young candidate tries to sleep her way into politics and into power. And that is what it appears Kamala Harris did.

Shapiro added, "She never earned or won anything. She was legitimately handed her original post in California state government because she was sleeping with [former San Francisco Mayor] Willie Brown. And then he backed her in her race for San Francisco DA."

Stewart then said, "I don't know, guys. You're being awfully subtle here. Isn't there a grosser way you can say that?"

"Does anybody have a substantive critique? he added. "Nobody believes Kamala Harris is the second coming of Karl Marx. And even when they get substantive policy critiques, they undercut them immediately."

Stewart then pointed to the fact Republicans can't decide whether Harris is too soft, or too tough on crime.

"People, we open in three months!" Stewart yelled. "You're flailing! Dig deep!"

Stewart then played a clip of far right podcast host Mark Levin criticizing Harris, saying, "There's one final thing that nobody talks about: She's hated by people who work for her."

The Daily Show host screamed, "Are you kidding me? Your candidate's Donald Trump. His catchphrase is literally, 'You're fired!' Donald Trump hired 44 cabinet members — 75% of them want nothing to do with the guy. His Secretary of State called him a f—ing moron. His chief of staff said 'He's the most flawed person I've ever met.' You know why he needs a new vice presidential running mate? I'll tell you why. He tried to get the last one killed.
