'Completely reinvented himself': Ohio Senate hopeful’s former Trump criticisms have 'all been erased'

Seeking the GOP nomination in Ohio's 2024 U.S. Senate race, candidate Bernie Moreno is praising former President Donald Trump and reciting very MAGA-themed rhetoric. But according to CNN, this is a radical departure from 2016 — when Moreno was a scathing Trump critic.
During a Monday morning, February 5 broadcast, CNN's Andrew Kaczynski said of Moreno, "He has a lengthy history of these anti-Trump comments in both 2016 and 2021. This is a guy who harshly opposed Donald Trump during that 2016 Republican primary. He called him a fake Republican and even suggested he was working with Hillary Clinton to bring down the Republican Party. And he even insulted (Trump's) signature Make America Great Again hats, calling them cheap."
Kaczynski added, "Now that he's running for Senate, that has all been erased."

During the segment, CNN broadcast some clips of Moreno from 2016.
On March 14, 2016, Moreno told America Now Radio, "There's no scenario in which I would support Trump…. If Trump is the nominee, I think the Republican Party is now a different party and not a party that I want to be a part of."
On February 23, 2016, Moreno said, "People take advantage of ignorance in our society all the time."
Moreno is now claiming that he supported Trump in 2016, but according to an October 19, 2016 tweet CNN has unearthed, Moreno posted, "I wrote in @marcorubio and hope you would also!!!"

Kaczynski noted that Moreno now claims that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, which a total flip flop from a November 7, 2020 tweet in which he posted, "Congratulations to @JoeBiden and @Kamala Harris for their hard fought victory. Now is the time for unity. #OneCountry."
Kaczynski explained, "So, here is a guy who has just—now that he's running for Senate, he wants Trump support — has just completely reinvented himself."
