Democrats 'don’t like democracy' claims Ted Cruz, who voted against certifying the 2020 election

United States Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday accused Democrats of manipulating the Judicial Branch to enact a radical progressive agenda.
Cruz — who on January 6th, 2020 voted against certifying President Joe Biden's Electoral College victory over former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election — delivered his remarks a day before the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on The Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act. According to its sponsor, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Rhode Island), the bill "would require Supreme Court justices to adopt a code of conduct, create a mechanism to investigate alleged violations of the code of conduct and other laws, improve disclosure and transparency when a justice has a connection to a party or amicus before the Court, and require justices to explain their recusal decisions to the public."
Despite the numerous allegations of corruption and impropriety shadowing multiple jurists — as well as the GOP's history of warping Senate procedures to stack the courts with right-wing judges — Cruz asserted that it is Democrats who are abusing the system.
"What we are witnessing right now from Senate Democrats is an organized, concerted, deliberate effort to smear, to try to delegitimize, and to try to destroy the Supreme Court," Cruz said. "We're witnessing it because they're angry. Senate Democrats are angry that we have a majority on the court that are willing to follow the Constitution and follow the law."
Cruz also stated that "it's important to note that Democrats don't like democracy," claiming that "if they did, they wouldn't go to the courts and try to force through wildly unpopular left-wing policies that the voters don't want. But today's congressional Democrats are more than willing to trample over the will of the voters, and they want judges to rubber-stamp their left-wing views. As a result, the Democrats look at the Supreme Court as the one institution of government that they cannot force a left-wing agenda down."
Recall that there are still many Republicans who remain loyal to Trump that cling to his debunked lie that the 2020 election was stolen, and who have proposed or passed laws in nearly every state limiting citizens' access to the ballot box.
