President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, made a surprise appearance Wednesday on Capitol Hill to attend his contempt of Congress hearing in the House Oversight Committee.

According to CNN, Biden and his legal team sat and watched proceedings for roughly 10 minutes. However, when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) started speaking, the president's son and his lawyers stood up in unison and walked out.

"Excuse me Hunter! Apparently you're afraid of my words," Greene said to Biden as he left the room. "Wow, that's too bad."

The Republican-led committee held the hearing to begin the process of bringing Hunter Biden up on a contempt charge after he defied a subpoena to answer the committee's questions. For his part, the president's son held a press conference outside of the US Capitol on the day he was scheduled to testify, reiterating that he was willing to face the committee and answer their questions, but only if the hearing was open to the public.

House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Kentucky) insisted that he would hold a separate public hearing, but only after Hunter first sat for a closed-door hearing. Biden's attorney Abbe Lowell said a closed-door hearing would be a "cloaked, one-sided process" but that his client remains ready and available to answer the committee's questions.

"A public proceeding would prevent selective leaks, manipulated transcripts, doctored exhibits, or one-sided press statements," Lowell said.

Hunter Biden's decision to walk out on Greene may be due to her widely panned decision to publicly display nude photos of the president's son engaging in sex acts during a previous committee hearing. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California) accused Greene of "literally showing d--- pics at our Oversight Hearing." The Lincoln Project — a group made up of Republicans opposed to former President Donald Trump — piled on the Georgia congresswoman, tweeting "The GOP is getting teachers fired for teaching sex ed while the GOP shows porn on the House floor."
